Lifting the Weight

Our communities are bound together with compassion and care for each other. Recent times especially have shown the lengths we go to to make sure people have what they need. But the impacts of the high cost of living, the ongoing effects of the pandemic, and now - for some - recovering from climate disaster, are multiplying pressure on low income families who were already struggling. The Fairer Future Collaboration has launched a new report on people’s experiences of owing debt to the Ministry of Social Development. The report shows how the Government can make a small, effective change that would make a huge difference to the lives of many whānau by wiping debt to MSD.
